Contractors – Blown Insulation

Blown in cellulose insulation has been used for many years by residential and commercial contractors to insulate homes and businesses throughout New England and all across the country. It is typically made from recycled materials, such as recycled newsprint and paper that has been treated with fire retardants that are non-toxic and safe for use in your home.

Blown in cellulose insulation is a very cost-effective way to insulate a home. It is very durable, safe and comes in two distinct forms: a loose fill, which is used primarily for attics, and a stabilized cellulose insulation, which is used for sidewalls and all other areas of your home.

Brands and Types of Blown Insulation Used

Richie’s Insulation uses three different kinds of blown insulation for our customers, based upon the unique needs and requirements of each residential and commercial contractors project. A “net and blow” method is used in new construction, where a net is put over open walls, a hole is poked in and the insulation product is blown in to create a dense pack. Insulating an older home requires a method where holds are drilled in from the outside, and the insulation material is then blown in to create a dense pack.

Supreme Blown-in Cellulose Insulation

Made of as much as 85% of recycled paper, Supreme cellulose works to fill gaps and voids that can be left by other types of insulation. It works to create an energy-saving blanket that works to reduce air leaks, improving thermal management in your home.

Blown-in Rockwool Rockfill ™ Insulation

Rockfill insulation is a unique material made of loose stone wool that is used in residential construction and in renovations of attics. It works to fill in gaps that are found in “hard to reach” places, without requiring the use of a blowing machine or other insulation installation equipment, as it can be spread out easily by hand. It is a light-weight, water-repellent, fire-resistant and sound-absorbing insulation that will not allow mildew or mold growth. Rockfill insulation also does not settle like other materials, helping to maintain R-value and thermal management over time.

Knauf Jet Stream ™ Insulation

Knauf’s blown-in cellulose insulation has been designed to optimize thermal management, fill all gaps and voids and create a thermal barrier against outside air to maintain temperature control throughout your home. Knauf Jet Stream works to reduce utility bills for both heat and air conditioning and is made from recycled materials, making it a very environmentally-friendly material.
